Jean M. Mazey, age 92, of Marlboro, New York, passed away on August.19, 2022 with her daughters by her side. Born on November 10, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Vincent J. and Margaret (Cotroneo) Belladone. On August 24, 1952 she married Joseph Mazey, who preceded her on July 25, 1982. Jean was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Marlboro. Jean was a seamstress, working for Toback & Sons coat factory and Marlboro Styles dress factory. She also worked for George M. Carroll Bus Co., and Copans & Co. CPA's (Gilman & Cioccia as an Office Associate. Jean also had the pleasure of babysitting for her grandchildren, as well as other children from town. She was an Avon representative for several years and was inducted into the Presidents' Honor Society in 1987. She also enjoyed tailoring for others in the community. Jean loved to go to bingo and the casino. She had the pleasure of visiting Hawaii and Paris, bus trips to many different places, cruising to Alaska and the Bahamas, and visiting family in Florida, Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Texas and California. Jean was a loving mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded by her parents, her husband Joe, mother-in-law Elizabeth Presler Martinisi, father-in-laws Joseph Mazie and Marcell Martinisi, brother Prospero Belladone, sisters Anna Widor Beach and Mary Fall, brothers-in-law Albert Widor, Brad Sutton, Wesley Fall, and Robert Beach. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanne (Ginger) Lynch, Cindy LaPaitra (Gasper), Patty Coppola (Steven), Margie Conley (Willard). Sisters Theresa Sutton and Rose Cassella and her husband Carl, and sister-in-law Alice Belladone. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gregory Johnston, Eric Johnston, Amanda Conley, Denise DeSantis, Allyson Williams, Nicholas Coppola, Christopher Coppola, and Richard LaPaitra. Great-grandchildren Gianna and John DeSantis, Aubrie Coppola, Brayleigh and Logan Johnston, Raina Johnston, Ava and Joseph Coppola, and Maycee Williams, and several nieces and nephews. An active member in the community, Jean served as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Chaplain, and an Executive Committee member of the Marlboro Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary for 59 years. She volunteered to work on fundraisers, bake sales, and penny socials, participating in parades, as well as being known for making the best pancakes for the annual firemen pancake breakfasts and was always available to serve food and beverages during fire calls to the firemen. Jean was a Charter member and Trustee of The Town of Marlboro Volunteer Ambulance Corp. for 39 years as a riding member and Dispatcher. She worked at bingo games every week (making her famous meatballs), and participated in other fundraising events. Jean was honored by the Town of Marlborough Democratic Committee at their Second Annual Community Service Salute Dinner on March 25, 2007 for her 39 years of service to the Town of Marlboro Volunteer Ambulance Corp. Jean was presented a Certificate of Appreciation in 2013 from the Veterans of Foreign Wars as a Gold Circle Member for her support of America's veterans and their families. Jean was honored by the Marlboro Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary for 59 years of dedicated service, and was presented the Pride of Ulster County Award in recognition for her 59 years of service with the Marlboro Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary, by the Ulster County Legislature on March 23, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the the Ladies Auxiliary to the Marlboro Hose Company, P.O. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Taconic Rehabilitation and Nursing facility at Hopewell where Mom resided for the last eleven months. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 23rd from 4-8pm at The DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Wednesday morning at 10:30am at St. Mary's Church, 1209 Route 9W, Marlboro. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
