Helen Rose Smith died peacefully, surrounded by her family on November 13, 2021. She was 80 years old, born on April 11, 1941 in Manhattan, NY. The daughter of the late Filippo and Ninfina (Fannie) Passaro. Helen graduated from Marlboro High School, Class of 1959. She was a Dukes cheerleader. Following graduation, she worked as a seamstress at a purse factory in Newburgh and Red's Apple Factory in Marlboro. She then fell in love and married her husband of 51 years, the late Fredrick Patrick Smith. In addition to being a devoted wife and loving mother to everyone she knew, she was very dedicated to helping the community. She regularly donated her time to the Town of Marlboro Volunteer Ambulance Corp. for many years and was a local girl scout troop leader. She also spent a lot of time feeding the homeless with her husband at St. Patrick's soup kitchen in Newburgh. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, traveling, camping, bowling in a women's league, painting ceramics, playing cards competitively, and creating handmade ribbon crosses. She would give out her crosses to nursing home residents and anyone that she met to spread the love of God. She is predeceased by her husband, Fredrick Patrick Smith, her seven siblings; Vincenza, Gaetano, Theresa, Albert, Mary, Enrico, and her twin Phillip. She leaves behind to cherish her memory four daughters; Kelly Richardson, Patricia Khosdeghian, Donna Marie Wyss, and Katherine Smith. Her son-in-laws Asbed Khosdeghian, Alphonso Wyss, and his brother Domingo Wyss; all of whom she loved as sons. Her grandchildren, Melissa, Michael and his wife Amy, Alfonso, Samantha, Nicole and her husband Trent, Michaela, Sarah, Garineh, little Melissa, and Caleb. Four great grandchildren, Madison, Michael, Demetrio, and Adalyn and many nieces and nephews. Her family traditions were her most precious gift, which will be kept alive through generations to come. Her light and love will live on within our hearts forever. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W Marlboro, NY.
