William Barclay Lyons Sr., loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Born on August 6, 1933 at home in Newburgh, NY. William (Bill) was the son of Marion and Harry Lyons. He graduated from Marlboro High School and received a Bachelors Degree from SUNY Farmingdale. Upon graduation, Bill worked as a Civil Engineer and one of his projects was the NYS Thruway. He was drafted and served for 18 months in the United States Army. After being discharged from the Army, Bill and Nancy relocated back to Marlboro. He joined his father in running Lyons Diner. For over 35 years, Bill held court behind the counter always greeting friends and new comers with a smile. He was known for his sense of humor, great stories and many pranks. An old fashion diner that is hard to find today, many will remember his apple dumplings, salad dressing and meatloaf. Bill was a true friend and quietly gave a helping hand to those in need. He will be missed by many. Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, former board member of the Cedar Hill Cemetery and a life member of the Marlboro Yacht Club. He loved sailing, skiing and tinkering in his garage. Bill is survived by his loving daughters, Marion S. Lyons and Carol Lyons Weber (Fred). His grandchildren William, Alexander and Carly. His dear cousin, Joyce Edwards Moshier. He was also the uncle of Earl, Jill, Kurt, Karen, Craig, Kathy, Laurie, Mark and Bonnie. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Nancy of 61 years and son, William B. Lyons Jr.. Funeral services will take place on Sunday, October 31st at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 98 West Street, Marlboro with Pastor Laurie McNeill officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh on Monday for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Marlboro.
