Barbara M. (Kovarnik) Caron of Marlboro, NY, passed away on July 27, 2021 at her home. Barbara was born in Manhattan, NY on January 1, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Edward Kovarnik and the late Yolanda Caminiti Kovarnik. Barbara was raised in Astoria, Queens and moved to Marlboro, NY in 1965 where she finished high school at Marlboro High School. She married Alfred Caron on June 9, 1973. She had many jobs in her youth before settling in with Northeastern Cash Register in Newburgh, NY for over 30 years. When that business downsized, she worked for Newburgh Packing in Newburgh, NY then Freskeeto Frozen Foods in Ellenville, NY before landing a position at Pavero Cold Storage in Highland, NY from 2008 until her retirement in 2019. Mom also loved working the concession stand on weekends at a local farm. She was loved and adored by many... always laughing and smiling. She loved to cook and entertain, often having a houseful every weekend whether it was family, friends or the neighborhood kids, her house was full and she was cooking. She was a very strong and stubborn women who selflessly cared for everyone else, even at the expense of her own health. Survivors include her daughter Claudean DeLaigle (Shawn), grandchildren Farrington and Shawn, brothers Joseph E. Kovarnik and Edward Kovarnik, her cousin/sister Marie Guilford (Ron), many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Barbara is predeceased by her husband Alfred Caron, mother Yolanda Caminiti Kovarnik, father Edward Kovarnik, brother Richard Kovarnik, mother in law Helen Pecka Caron, brother in law Edward Caron, sister in laws Rosemarie Stanford, Bertha Traver and Geraldine Orsino-Kovarnik. Special thanks to Hospice, her nurse Donna, aides Grace and Sandra and social worker Lisa, for all their help and support these last few months. Calling hours will be on Monday, August 2nd from 4pm-7pm at The DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro. Due to recent inclines in COVID cases and a unvaccinated grandchild, the family is requiring all attendees at the wake and church services to wear a mask while indoors. If you do not have one or forget, one will be provided to you at the door. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Tuesday morning, August 3rd at 10:30am at St. Mary's Church, 1209 Route 9W, Marlboro. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
