Anna Theresa Sylvester, age 95, passed away peacefully March 18, 2021. She was born June 16,1925, in Brooklyn, New York to the late John and Matilda (Capozzi) Amodeo.
If you knew Anna, you knew what it meant to be loved by another human being. She was warm, kind, sharp as a tack with just the right amount of "spice." Anna very much believed in always putting family above all. For decades, she cooked for her family, at least, three times a week so they could always be together and see one another. All-time favorites were her spaghetti and meatballs, pasta fagioli, pastina, creme puffs, and her cookies. Anna would do anything for her loved ones, without complaint, and at a drop of a hat. "I love you," "be careful of the cars on the road," and the advice of, "well, what are ya gonna do?" were often heard in the walls of her home. She filled every space with laughter and made everyone feel like they belong with her (Just ask any of her "adopted" children/grandchildren). Anna took pride in her work as a seamstress at several different locations in the area. After retirement she found joy in babysitting her grandchildren many days of the week. As a woman of strong Catholic faith, she often spoke about her relationship with God and praying to the saints. She was unafraid to go be with God and would talk to her family about how, "one day, whenever it was her time, it was just going to be her time." Her only concern was to make sure her two sons would be okay. "Her boys," were the joy of her life. Anna, the matriarch of the Sylvester/Amodeo family will be deeply missed and will forever live in the hearts of those she loves.
Anna is survived by her beloved sons: Samuel (Kathy) Sylvester and John (Maria) Sylvester; grandchildren Elizabeth Silva (Christopher Albee), Kristy (Keith) Levandoski, Jr, Amy (John) Atkins, and great-grandchildren Branden Cooper, Alexandra and Leo Levandoski. As well as cherished family members: Gloria Amodeo, John Amodeo, Joseph Amodeo, Anthony Amodeo, Jr., Mary Anne Amodeo, Linda Amodeo Thomas Amodeo, Jr., ToniMarie (Kyle) Zeyher, Madilyn Zeyher, Gabriella Zeyher, and Thomas "TJ" Amodeo. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph Sylvester, her brothers; Anthony "Tony" Amodeo and Thomas Amodeo and her sister-in-law Laura Amodeo.
