Joan M. (Barry) Camuglia, 85 passed away after a lengthy illness on April 12, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital. Born on November 7, 1932 to her parents Roy & Helen Barry of Marlboro, NY.
On May 21, 1950 she married Louis E. Camuglia who predeceased her in June, 2004. They enjoyed a life together, working side by side with her "Gino" in their different family owned businesses, starting with Van's Market in Newburgh, during the tumultuous 1960's. They continued their journey to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they opened Gino's Foods, a successful wholesale supplier of family recipes of Italian food. Homesick, they eventually returned to NY where they opened Barry Dinettes in Wappinger Falls and New Windsor, until their well-deserved retirement. Once retired, they enjoyed time with family as well as many winters at their home in Florida.
There was a bond between them that few can attest to, she would tell of dreaming of her "Gino" up until her passing. We are comforted that they are finally reunited, at peace and finally she is pain-free. She was loved and taken care of over the years and will be missed terribly but never forgotten. Memories and stories will continue each time "Nana's apple pie" or her famous tubettini stuffing is made and enjoyed.
She leaves behind three daughters; MaryLynn & Fred Giametta, Marlboro, NY, Chris Lantis and fiancé Jeff Tobin, Tarpon Springs, FL, Diane Hedrick and partner Steve VanBuren, Fishkill, NY, one son; Michael Camuglia, Naples, FL. Her sister Ruth (Jim) Aurigemma, her brother, John (Fran) Barry. Her grandchildren; Lisa Giametta (Jimmy Bellacicco), Stephen (Jennifer) Giametta, Jen (Eric) Simmons, Erick Lantis, Alex Lantis, Jessica Hedrick (Noah Boujikian) and Kenny Hedrick. Great-grandchildren;
Zack, Nick, Bella, Gabby, Andrew, Lily and Eric, Jr. as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, May 19th at St. Mary's Church, Marlboro, NY.
A memorial graveside service will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Marlboro, at the family plot where she will be buried, on what would have been their 68th wedding anniversary.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Carl J. DiDonato, Jr. of the DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc.
