Obituary of Deacon John Repke

Deacon John T. Repke, 80, of Marlboro, passed away Friday Sept. 8, 2017. He was born on Dec. 27, 1936. in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of the late Francis and Dorothy Repke of Wallkill, NY.

He was ordained Permanent Deacon on May 1, 1982.

John was predeceased by his wife, Maria Grimm Repke. He is survived by his five children: Karen Corrado and her husband Joe of Marlboro, Joan Repke and her partner Michael of Florida, John Repke and his wife Lisa of Marlboro, Sharon Repke of Milton, and Maria Repke of California. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Angela, Jessica and Joe Corrado, Jake and Emma Repke, Gavin Petilli and Raymond, Ross, and Robert Bianco. He is survived by his brothers: Francis and his wife Barbara of Florida and Robert and his wife Catherine of Florida, and several loved nieces and nephews.

John was an intelligent man who enjoyed technology and literature. His passions included playing in a jazz band, photography, and target shooting. He enjoyed aviation, was a pilot, loved his grand-dogs, and was a very active member in St. Mary's Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved his children, grandchildren, and sitting by the lake with a cigarette.

He was a retired English teacher at Marlboro High School and the Wallkill Prison. He was also a professional photographer.

Visitation will be held Wednesday Sept. 13 at St. Mary's Church, 1209 Route 9W, Marlboro from 3pm to 8pm.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at St. Mary's Church at 10:30am with the burial immediately following at St. Mary's Cemetery, 510 Lattintown Road, Marlboro.

A reception will be held after at St. Mary's Parish hall.
