Mildred "Millie" May Partington Bartula Eckert a local area resident all of her life, died on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at the Pines of Poughkeepsie. She was 93.
Daughter of the late Ralph F. and Cornelia (Atkins) Partington, she was born in Marlboro on December 11, 1924. Mildred graduated from Marlboro High School and Vassar Brothers Hospital Nursing School where she worked as a Registered Nurse for many years. She met Frank J. Bartula in the mid-1940's when he was a patient at the hospital. They married in 1947 and had 3 children.
Frank died in 1960 and in 1985 she married Charles S. Eckert who died in 1992. Survivors include her daughter Ralphynne B. Vance of Poughkeepsie, her sons Frank J. Bartula of Pine Bush and John O. Bartula of Queensbury, her brother Ralph Partington, Jr. and his wife Joan of Marlboro, her sister Winifred Malora and her husband Paul of Florida, her sister Velda Preston of New Mexico; 2 grandchildren: Tammy Stevens and her husband Kevin of Pine Bush and Frank J. Bartula II and his wife Sharie of Pine Bush, 4 great grandchildren: Joseph Bartula, Kortney Stevens, Maranda Spears, Amanda DeMouth and 2 great great grandchildren: Harley Sanders and Jemma Lee Spears all of Pine Bush and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by her sister Cornelia Becker.
Mildred like to read, knit and sew and she was always happy when spending time with her family and her animals.
Calling hours will take place on Thursday from 4-7pm at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Rout e9W, Marlboro.
Funeral services will take place on Friday morning at 10:30am at the DiDonato Funeral Home with Pastor Jody Spiak officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
